As part of the Internal Controls team within the Pension Services Division, the Analyst, Internal Controls is responsible for executing key controls activities.

As a member of this team, you will be responsible for:

• Complete quarterly compliance reporting, specifically, prepare supporting documentation, identify and validate exceptions with the business owners.
• Responsible for overseeing that pension overpayments and payables are actioned by business owners according to documented procedures.
• Review death registry report and stop payments accordingly.
• Execute key control activities such as providing annual task list to business owners and performing write-off testing.
• Assist with conducting reviews of pension transactions by examining business processes / risks and recommending corrective actions if required.
• Prepare pensioner verification letters, assist with follow-ups, monitor progress and report on results.
• Assist with the employer attestation program, specifically, prepare documentation, follow-ups and monitor progress.
• Recommend internal controls and process improvements and assist in the design and implementation of new internal controls, where required.
• Assist as required the Senior Analyst with control activities.

To succeed in this role, you:

• University degree
• 5 years of pension or benefit / pension administration or relevant experience.
• 5 years of client interaction experience.
• Working knowledge of pension plan administration and governing legislation and regulations - Pension Benefits Act, Income Tax Act, administrative policies and procedures

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Focused and self-motivated.
• Able to gather, synthesize, organize and interpret data or information and formulate appropriate conclusions.
• Strong planning and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Possess strong problem solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent relationship management, negotiation and conflict management skills.
• Able to deal with ambiguity and changing priorities.
• Strong customer service orientation and a professional approach.
• Independently prioritize work and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes
