We are looking for a highly motivated Senior Systems Engineer to join our Information Technology team in Toronto. In this role, you will be primarily responsible for implementing, maintaining and managing Oxford’s enterprise network infrastructure, including collaboration, voice, video and network.

You’ll be leading the team in their areas of expertise including researching the latest technologies, working with vendors, providing recommended solutions and implementing best practices. In addition, this position will be responsible for third level support as required.

As a member of this team, you will be responsible for:

Technical Lead and SME
• Leads enterprise network design sessions, directs and/or conducts network implementations
• Defines, documents and enforces network standards across the enterprise
• Maximize network performance by monitoring various systems and troubleshoot network issues and outages, schedules regular upgrades proactively
• WAN/Routing: MPLS, IGRP, EIGRP, OSPF, BGP-4, EGP, NHRP, DWDM
• Cisco Routers and Switches, QOS, Nexus 5k,7k, Catalyst 4500/6500 VSS, VPC, OTV & ACI
• Cisco ASA and Palo Alto Firewalls
• Network Security using Cisco ISE ( dot1x , profiling and posturing)
• F5 and Netscaler Load Balancing technologies
• RAS / VPN infrastructures (TACACS, Radius, ACE Server); design and build.
• Wireless: 802.11x wireless policy and security encryption
• Liaises with IT Security department to ensure security policies are established and enforced, responds promptly to mitigate zero day threats
• Demonstrate excellent abilities in the areas of performance diagnostic and analytical skills
• Demonstrate excellent organizational, interpersonal, project leadership
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills coupled with a strong orientation towards customer service, teamwork and collaboration.

Other Responsibilities:
• Write technical design documentation, network diagrams, configuration and operational documentation
• Work directly with lines of business to gather requirements and translate to technical requirements
• Collaborate amongst a team of engineers and architects on the OMERS Enterprise IT team
• Participate in the creation of Statements of Work (SOW), Request for Proposal (RFP), maintenance contracts, managed services
• Initiate Cisco TAC cases and work with TAC engineers
• Maximizing network performance by monitoring performance, troubleshooting network problems
• Plan and schedule required upgrades, patching and system maintenance
• Work with third parties to conduct security audits and perform remediation activities
• Participate (when/if needed) in the annual IT audit
• Adhere to change management policies and procedures

To succeed in this role, you:

• Post-secondary degree in Computer Science
• Industry certifications in one or more of the following: Cisco Routing and Switching, wireless, Security
• Other certification (considered an asset): Cisco collaboration and Cisco Voice, security, Data Center, ITIL v3
• Minimum of five years direct experience in a senior role focused on Cisco networking in medium to large enterprise networks
• Knowledge of Project Management Methodologies
• Proven project management track record and familiarity with project management tools such as MS Project
• Excellent interpersonal skills, a positive attitude and teamwork
• Excellent communication and proven presentation skills
• Knowledge of Real Estate industry is considered an asset
