We are looking for a Lead, Property Accounting to join Oxford’s North American Accounting team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overall accounting for a large retail portfolio and managing one Property Accountant. This role requires strong attention to detail, communication skills and the ability to multitask in a complex environment.

Experience working within retail and/or commercial property accounting and within an organization with a complex legal entity structure is required for this role.

This is a great opportunity for a Senior Property Accountant with demonstrated experience in retail or complex office asset mix to move into a supervisory role.

As a member of this team, you will be responsible for:

• Prepare month-end close entries and provide analysis of monthly operating variances and account analysis.
• Maintain CAM, TAX and other recovery model for tenants and prepare monthly recovery accruals.
• Prepare monthly distributions/contribution of cash flows and property management reports to owners.
• Prepare monthly GST/QST remittance calculations and reporting.
• Prepare monthly bank reconciliations.
• Prepare annual operating and capital budgets.
• Prepare quarterly reforecasts.
• Prepare quarterly financial packages.
• Prepare yearend audit packages and working papers, liaison with auditors.
• Prepare year end audited financial statements with notes.
• Prepare year end audited cost statements and final billing to tenants.
• Prepare information as requested by various departments.
• Review the work of the property accountant, provide guidance and conduct performance review.
• Assist property management personnel and co-owners in financial accounting queries.
• Prepare various accounting reports and analyses as requested.
• Other projects as assigned.

To succeed in this role, you:

• Have completed a University degree
• Hold a CPA designation
• Have minimum 3 years property accounting experience with large commercial properties (preferably large shopping center)
• Supervisory experience is strongly preferred
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Good knowledge of the real estate industry
• Strong Excel skills required
• Experience with JDE preferred
