The Financial Analyst will be responsible for the full cycle accounting including the month-end close process and internal management and external reporting for certain of Oxford’s asset management companies located in Canada, US and UK. This role is located in our Toronto office and will be responsible for all aspects of the general ledger accounting for the asset management companies with a significant focus on General and Administrative (G&A) reporting.

This role requires strong attention to detail as well as the ability to multitask in a complex environment.

As a member of this team, you will be responsible for:

• Prepare all aspects of general ledger accounting including monthly, quarterly, and year-end journal entries and allocations, together with supporting documentation for Oxford’s management companies and related corporate entities and structures
• Work closely with the Assistant Manager in preparing Oxford’s G&A budget and quarterly forecasts including review and processing of business unit submissions and completion of consolidated level variance analysis and related reporting
• Prepare monthly reconciliations of the cash, equity, debt, and intercompany account balances and periodic reconciliation of other general ledger account balances
• Prepare and obtain appropriate approvals for wires and EFT’s for various corporate payments
• Responsible for monthly bank reconciliations and investigation of reconciling items for Oxford’s management companies
• Prepare monthly/quarterly GST/HST/QST analysis and filings
• Monitor bank balances and prepare cash flow forecasts to ensure sufficient funds to meet operational and development funding requirements
• Prepare steps memos, solvency tests and other documentation necessary to support contributions and distributions for various legal entities
• Prepare non-consolidated legal entity financial statements and related supporting working papers, as well as audit packages and StatsCan surveys
• Propose recommendations for process improvements to support efficiency and effectiveness of day to day activities
• Assist with requests from external auditors and other departments such as Property Accounting, Treasury and Tax
• Completion of ad hoc projects as required by management

To succeed in this role, you:

• University degree in accounting or business administration
• Completion of or working towards the CPA designation
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in accounting, real estate management company experience preferred but not required
• High attention to detail and accuracy and strong follow-up skills
• Strong communication / interpersonal skills (both written and verbal) as the position will involve frequent communication with all levels of management and other departments
• Experience working in a large environment with a complex organizational structure
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook required, and exposure to JD Edwards and Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) is considered an asset
• Adaptable to a changing and fast paced corporate environment managing multiple competing deadlines
• Able to embrace steep learning curve with an open attitude towards learning
