To continue building OGE, OMERS seeks to recruit a Director to complement its existing team. The sectors it expects to focus on initially will include healthcare, software, media, telecommunications and transportation. The position will be based at OMERS’ head office in Toronto, Ontario and will require the ability to travel frequently and internationally.

As a member of this team, you will be responsible for:

• Coordinate and lead teams to conduct thematic research that results in the identification of attractive investments
• Assist in sourcing and rigorously assessing new investment opportunities by evaluating management teams, investment merits and risks, returns and market dynamics
• Lead the execution of investments in high growth companies
• Work collaboratively with internal and external partners
• Develop, establish and maintain relevant business relationships to source investments in high growth companies
• Assist in preparing presentations to OMERS’ Investment Committee and various stakeholders
• Representing OMERS as an active Director on the boards of companies we invest in
• Supporting a partnership-oriented culture and processes for this investment platform
• Preparing and delivering presentations to OMERS’ Investment Committee and various stakeholders
• Leading the asset management for Company investments

To succeed in this role, you:

• 10+ years experience as an investor, investment banker, consultant and/or operational experience at a high growth company
• Have experience managing external advisors such as consultants, accountants and/or financial advisors
• Have a track record of identifying and investing in, or advising, high growth companies
• Be experienced in structuring complex transactions
• Demonstrable track record of investment and career success
• Have experience leading commercial due diligence activities and possess a solid understanding of related risks and challenges
• Be highly knowledgeable in relation to governance matters and may have taken on multiple directorship roles
• Be intellectually curious and have a long investment horizon
• Be a mature, enthusiastic and experienced leader, who acts as a collaborative partner
• Be entrepreneurial, thoughtful and apolitical
• Be a self-starter and motivated by the opportunity to build a successful investment platform
• Be well networked and well regarded among potential deal sources, advisors and investee companies

Founded in 1962, OMERS is one of Canada’s largest defined benefit pension plans, with $97 billion in net assets as at December 31, 2018.
