We are looking for a highly-motivated, creative, passionate, forward-looking designer and analyst to join our Pension Technology team in Toronto. In this role, you will work with closely with product teams to design and deliver high quality, effective, consistent and usable web application. You'll employ human-centered design principles and design activities, best practices to design the optimal client experience solution. Must be driven to deliver and work closely with both Technology and Business leadership. OMERS is embarking on a Digital First Strategy and modern UX/UI is a key component of bringing our customer experience to the next level. Additional scope would areas include supporting enterprise projects that can include enterprise public and secure transactional data exchange, self-managed service, on different channels such as desktop, web clients, and mobile. You will work as part of a cross-functional team and must be able to work alone if needed.

As a member of this team, you will be responsible for:

• Working closely with the business stakeholders to understand business and functional requirements, and document that into story boards, user stories, and functional requirements documents (product logs, sprint logs) • Producing wireframes and user flows (user stories) that match the business and functional requirements • Managing design of user interface, by applying emerging market research, design standards, industry best practices, considering strategic business objectives, user needs, systems constraints. • Leading the design review sessions with project teams, acquiring consensus and getting approvals on designs and documentation • Creating User Interface elements in both low-fidelity and high-fidelity utilizing industry standards and industry recognized tools such as InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, and similar • Creating and generating prototypes of UX/UI iterations utilizing prototyping tools such as Axure • Leading usability testing when required, providing expert guidance to the project teams, creating test strategy/plans, test scenarios, screeners and facilitating usability testing as required • Creating business acceptance test cases and testing for the GUI • Working with the project managers to ensure that solution deliverables accommodate project timelines, budgets, technical and scope constraints • Working on several projects at a time and provides regular status reporting to manager on all projects • Contributing to development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of efficient and effective user experience design methodology/process, documentation, workflow, ROI, metrics and design standards • Acting as a user experience advocate and thought leader regarding principles of user experience and human-centered design

To succeed in this role, you:

• Recognizable degree in Design or a related discipline • Minimum 6+ years related product design/UI design working experience • Experience with digital projects – agile project lifecycle • Must be experienced in: Agile project management, scrum, user stories and user boards, user flows, low-fidelity designs, high-fidelity designs, prototyping, and web coding • Must be self-sufficient in terms of setting goals and time lines, and meeting them • Must be proficient in: Mind mapping tools, UX tools, Adobe InDesign and Photoshop, Prototyping tools (Axure), documentation and annotation tools, HTML/CSS coding and tools • Experience with financial/investment/insurance businesses would be an asset • Experience with Design Sprints and other design lead solution activities would be an asset
