As a key member of the Enterprise Data and Advanced Analytics team, the role of Bi Specialist is instrumental in enhancing data & analytics capabilities by championing industry best practices and delivering high quality reports and training to enhance business decision making. They help translate complex solutions to digestible business-centric outcomes and will do so by building interactive data visualizations using Power BI and sophisticated data models.

They will work with business-unit leaders to identify and prioritize problems that analytics is suited to solve and help identify the data (internal or external) needed to produce the most useful insights. In addition to being responsible for end to end solutions that business users can execute on, they also work towards driving adoption among business users. The individual will support and collaborate with data engineers, data scientists and business users and engage in technical support, research and knowledge sharing through the implementation lifecycle of projects and solutions. As a member of this team, you will be responsible for:

• Facilitating workshops with stakeholders to gather requirements and develop low/high fidelity wireframes
• Contributing to the Power BI Community of Interest/Champions network to review latest features and updates
• Broadening the reach of Power BI through providing Dashboard in a Day and other Power Platform workshops at Enterprise level
• Designing and building interactive data visualization using Power BI to provide insights
• Developing and monitoring Power BI Premium Dataflows to gather, transform and democratize structured and unstructured data assets
• Helping instill a product mindset in the team and presenting and communicating analytics centric solutions to stakeholders and the immediate team
• Building professional growth by actively acquiring predictive modelling skills and programming breadth
• Facilitating collaboration and sharing through best practices of delivering and sharing and content
• Collaborating with data architects, engineers, and data scientists to carve out solutions that can support ongoing and future analytical capabilities
• Operating in an Agile development environment
• Managing change and communicating impacts to stakeholders and fellow team members
• Provisioning and resource management of Premium Capacity
• Leading multiple projects simultaneously and ensuring on-time delivery
• Usage Monitoring and Auditing

To succeed in this role, you have:

• A Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Business Analytics, Data Science, Business, Accounting, Finance, or related discipline with two (2) + years of experience
• Excellent data visualization skills and experience of developing dashboards using Power BI (DAX and M). Strong ability to communicate quantitative data into a visually engaging story
• Experience and proficiency in SQL scripting is a must
• Experience and proficiency with an additional programming language such as Python is an asset
• Knowledge or experience of machine learning and data science is a plus
• A depth of Power BI experience wrangling complex data using M functions and developing sophisticated semantic logic using DAX expressions will be thoroughly tested and is required
• A breadth of technical experience and knowledge in the MSFT data and analytics ecosystem, with Subject Matter Expertise in Power BI
• The ability to quickly propose solutions by recalling the latest best practices learned from MVP & Product Team articles, MSFT documentation, whitepapers, and other community publications is required
• A proven track record of building deep technical relationships. Experience in aligning expectations across various stakeholders
• The ability to trace data lineage and resolve technical issues with minimal supervision
• Polished written and verbal communication and presentation skills targeted at all levels of the organization
